It starts with a four day 1200- to 1400-calorie diet designed to reduce bloating and introduce the dieter to healthier food. Each day dieters must drink 2 liters of mixed cucumber and citrus juice with herbs and spices.
The next phase is a 28 day 1600-calorie Mediterranean-style diet with 400 calorie meals every four hours. The emphasis on wholesome, unrefined foods including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, lean protein, and very little red meat (once a month).
Monounsaturated fats are the cornerstone of the diet – so called healthy vegetable fats from olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, soybean, flax, olive and sunflower oils are eaten at each meal.
Although weight will most certainly be lost on a 1200 calorie diet, there is no scientific evidence that any diet can specifically target fat from one region of the body. When the dieters return to normal calories, they regain all the weight lost.
